Automation, Robotics and Vision

December 12-15, 2024. Dubai

Message from General Chair

Dear Friend and Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to welcome you to the 18th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV 2024)!

The biennial event of ICARCV has proven to be a premium forum for researchers and engineers from all around the world to share their latest research results and accelerate the exploitation of new technologies in Control, Automation, Robotics and Computer Vision. ICARCV 2024 is organized by School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and technically sponsored by IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS), IEEE CSS Chapter, Singapore and Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation. With the efforts from all the members of the Organizing Committee, ICARCV 2024 continues to attract broad interest throughout the world, with 293 submissions received from 33 countries/regions. The strong support from the Technical Program Committee has enabled us to put together a very solid technical program that consists of 32 technical sessions and 1 panel discussion for the delegates. Besides the parallel technical sessions, there are also three plenary addresses on the state-of-art development in Control, Automation, Robotics and Computer Vision to be delivered by eminent professors and researchers.

We are indeed honored to have three plenary speakers: (1) Professor Kristin Pettersen, Professor of Engineering Cybernetics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Adjunct Professor at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, a Fellow of IEEE and AAIA, a member of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences, and a member of the Academy of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters; (2) Professor Karl H, Johansson, Swedish Research Council Distinguished Professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and Director of Digital Futures, a Fellow of the IEEE and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and a recipient of IEEE Control Systems Society Hendrik W. Bode Lecture Prize; (3) Professor Yunhui Liu, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, Director of T Stone Robotics Institute at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Director of Hong Kong Centre for Logistics Robotics, a Fellow of IEEE, HKIE and HKAES. Their presence would undoubtedly add prestige to the conference. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of them for their contributions and supports to ICARCV 2024.

We would like to thank all the organizers of invited sessions and the numerous researchers worldwide who helped to review the submitted papers. We are also grateful to the distinguished International Advisory Committee members for their invaluable supports and assistances. We would like to gladly acknowledge the technical sponsorship of the IEEE Control Systems Society and Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation. We also wish to place our hearty thanks to all the members of the Organizing Committee for their hard work to make this conference possible, and to many friends, colleagues and family members who have helped the conference directly or indirectly. Last but not least, we are grateful for the strong and enthusiastic support of all delegates from around the world.

We hope that you will find your participation in this conference inspiring, rewarding, enjoyable and memorable. We also look forward to seeing you all in future ICARCV conferences.
